Forgiveness Is Life Enjoyed
What does it truly mean to enjoy life as a follower of Christ? The answer, perhaps surprisingly, runs straight through the heart of forgiveness. This message takes us on a deep dive into one of the most challenging and liberating truths in all of Scripture: that forgiveness is not a suggestion for believers, it is the very bloodline of a flourishing life. Drawing from Matthew 18, where Jesus responds to Peter's question about how many times we must forgive a brother who wrongs us, we are confronted with a number that shatters every human standard. Seventy times seven. Not a ceiling, but a posture of the heart. The parable that follows is a mirror held up to every one of us, showing what it looks like when someone who has been forgiven an impossible debt turns around and refuses to extend even a fraction of that mercy to another. The spiritual stakes could not be higher. We also spend time in the Lord's Prayer from Matthew 6, where we are reminded that right in the middle of that sacred model for prayer sits a condition we often glide past too quickly: forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors. The message challenges us to sit with the weight of that phrase and ask ourselves honestly whether our prayers reflect the reality of our hearts toward others.
